Deinotherium Art Print 13" x 19". Deinotherium! Proboscideans of the genus Deinotherium are an isolated and, from the evolutionary point of view, a still obscure group. The front of the lower jaw curved downwards almost at right angles and supported a pair of tusks of which the use is not clear. The upper tusks were not develop at all. Deinotherium, which grew to a height of about 4m (13ft), lived in Europe from the Early Miocene to the Late Pliocene. Its remains have also been found in Africa and Asia.
